Each year otherwise healthy children who are not vaccinated die from influenza, over 50 in fact this year already. Very young children and those with chronic illness are at highest risk. State BMI Reporting Homer Central School District was selected for this school year to report Weight S tatus Category information by the New York State Department of Health.                                        As part of a required school health examination, a student is weighed and his/her height is measured. Wi-Fi access on buses Today’s students are busier than ever and having Wi-Fi connectivity allows for learning to be extended. Last year Homer Central School District piloted the use  of Wi-Fi on six of our buses that go on longer runs for field trips or athletic events. Coaches and teachers alike report the benefits that internet access on long trips provide to the students to complete assignments. The district’s internet filters control the access just as if the student was using the internet in one of our buildings. Our eight newest leased 66 passenger buses came equipped with Wi-Fi, expanding this opportunity to more students. As we continue over the next several years to lease buses yearly, they will all come equipped with Wi-Fi giving equal access ... more >>
