Fifth Grade Students Learn About Knighthood, Try on Armor
Recently, Homer Central High School Art Teacher Mr. Andre visited with some fifth-graders from the intermediate school, and gave a presentation on suits of armor.
Representing a hands-on connection to the students’ recent unit “The Adventures of Don Quixote,” the presentation explored what knighthood meant during that period, while also giving the students a chance to see (and even try-on) era-specific pieces of armor to get a feel for what those knights must have felt like when so encumbered.
Fun fact: Mr. Andre actually made the armor used during the presentation himself! A special thanks goes out to Mr. Andre for taking the time to give this very cool presentation.
