Homer Students Speak With Ambulance Medic
Earlier in this month, Ms. Tracy’s class visited with Mr. Michael Keegan, a medic with TLC Medical Transportation Services. Mr. Keegan had a lot of equipment to show the students, including towels, emesis basins, defibrillator, a radio, emergency lights, and a stretcher.
Mr. Keegan was very kind throughout the visit, sharing his time and knowledge with the group. The students learned that up to five people can sit in the back of the ambulance, or two people can do so lying down. They also learned that an ambulance is capable of doing everything that an emergency room can do in the first 20 minutes of an incident!
Mr Keegan also shared a little bit about his personal experience on the job. Students learned that he has delivered 11 babies in the past, and that he has been doing this job for 40 years! The district would like to sincerely thank Mr. Keegan and TLC for taking the time to come teach us about this important job!
