Homer Senior Awarded National Honor Society Scholarship
The National Honor Society has announced that Homer High School senior Andrew Fagerheim has been awarded a $3,200 scholarship toward higher education.
Fagerheim was chosen from nearly 7,000 applicants and is one of 575 students to receive this prestigious scholarship.
The scholarship is awarded annually based on academic achievement, service, leadership, and character.
During his time at Homer High School, Fagerheim displayed these four pillars of the National Honor Society through his work for the Environmental Club and Homer’s Green Team.
Fagerheim also works in the community as an Assistant Climate Smart Communities Coordinator for the Village of Homer.
“Andrew has done an excellent job both in the classroom and in the community,” Homer High School Principal Douglas Van Etten said. “We could not be prouder of him
and look forward to seeing all of his future successes.”
Fagerheim is the valedictorian of Homer High School’s Class of 2020 and will be attending Columbia University to study engineering with a special interest in sustainability and renewable energy in the fall.
