Consider yourself at home with Lionel Bart's classic musical based on Charles Dickens' novel, Oliver Twist. The Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience members alike.
The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family.
Oliver! is a musical theatre masterpiece, perfectly showcasing the talents of a large ensemble cast as they bring these classic characters and score to life.
The Homer Education Foundation has partnered with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to send books directly to preschool age children in the Homer Central School District. Each month, participating children receive a book delivered directly to their home. We believe we can foster a love of reading, strengthen family-child relationships, and contribute to a foundation of school readiness with this simple but powerful gesture.
For every $1 we contribute to postage--our financial part of the literacy partnership--the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Foundation matches with about $5 on a book. You can help us reach our goal of enrolling 100% of the eligible children in the Homer District by contributing to the HEF.
We want all of Homer's youngest children, from birth to five years old, to be among the lucky boys and girls who receive the gift of books, delivered free of charge, to their home each month.
For more information, contact the Office of Instruction at (607) 749-1206.
This academic year the foundation has given approximately $10,000 to the teachers & staff for programs for students. There are no administration costs to the Foundation and therefore 100% of your dollars have a direct impact. We are happy for the support of the community and ask that you come and participate in our events thank you.
