2016 State Competition for MATHCOUNTS

On Saturday, March 19, a group of Homer Junior High students competed in the 2016 State Competition for MATHCOUNTS, held at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. MATHCOUNTS is an organization founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and CNA Foundation. There are four levels to this competition; school, chapter, state and national. These students won at the Chapter level in February and earned a spot at the State level, an impressive achievement for this first-time team. Their experience at RPI was exciting, and has encouraged these and other students to work hard to earn a spot again next year. The students who competed were (6th Graders) Rishi A., William D., Gavin L., Conor P., Brandon S., and (8th Grader) Andrew F. Congratulations to the whole team, and to advisor Mrs. DeCarlo. We’re cheering for you!
