8th Grade Civic Action Museum

8th Grade Civic Action Museum
8th grade Social Studies students curated the Civic Action Museum on Friday, June 10th.  The Junior High Library was filled with students presenting their plans for civic action to address some of the most complex problems in our society. Students chose their own area of concern, used library research skills to learn about the topic, and created a civic action plan to move the issue forward.  There were letters to elected officials, planned rallies, new organizations, websites designed, and even new legislative bills written to address a wide variety of issues, such as the minimum wage, the deterioration of the coral reef, transgender issues, Islamophobia and school dress codes among others. Civic Action Museum guests included students, teachers, administrators and Board of Education members.  Ask your child about their Civic Action Project!
