High School Students Create A Spooky Effect



Check out how students were able to create this spooky effect.  As Ms. Jones explains it:
When the stopper is removed from the flask, the sodium iodide drops into the hydrogen peroxide and catalyzes the decomposition of the peroxide into oxygen gas and water vapor.  (2 H2 O2(aq) → 2 H2O(g) + O2(g) + heat).
Being a catalyst, the iodine is not changed in the decomposition. The reaction is
