Will The Homer Education Foundation Be Run By The Homer Central School District ?

According to New York State Law, both entities must remain separate. However, members of the Homer Central School District Staff, Students or Board Members may sit as Trustees of the Foundation.

Who Will Run The Homer Education Foundation ?

The Homer Education Foundation will be guided by a group of Volunteer Trustees, all community members, dedicated to educational enhancement and enrichment of students and staff within the Homer CSD community. The work of the Foundation will be overseen by an Executive Board of Trustees, including but not limited to the offices of President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary.

T he work will be carried out by a number of standing committees:
Executive Committee
Finance Committee
Special Events Committee
Grant Making Committee
Public Relations Committee
Trustee Development & Nominating Committee

How Will The Homer Education Foundation Affect Other HCSD Fundraising Groups ?

The Foundation has set clear parameters when discussing how to raise funds and where the best possible funding opportunities may be found. The Foundation will keep clear lines of communication open with other HCSD Fundraising Groups (Alumni, Sports Boosters, Music Boosters, etc.) to make sure that funding sources are not being exhausted and that existing funding streams are not compromised.

How Will Funding Be Secured?

Funding may be secured through a number sources, these may include but not be limited to the following:
Individual Donations
Corporate Donations
Program-Specific Donations
Employee Contributions
Gifts of Appreciated Stock
Planned Giving and Bequests

Can I Choose What My Donation Will Fund ?

You may give program-specific or scholarship-specific donations. The Homer Education Foundation reserves the right to decline any donation that does not fit with the Foundation's mission or by-laws.

What Shall Be Funded By The Foundation?

A Foundation’s purpose is to provide a method for going above and beyond that legal and moral obligation; for making available to the children of a community the very best educational opportunities, when normal tax-based funding cannot be found or used. With this principle in mind, the Homer Education Foundation will consider the following funding objectives:

Scholarships/Financial Assistance For Post-Secondary Education and Career Development
Homer CSD School Community Recognition and Awards
Community Education and Enrichment Programs
Extracurricular Program Enrichment
Academic Program Enrichment-Horizon Summer Project
