The Homer Shakespearean Society is bringing a classic to the stage for their 50th Anniversary Gala Production - The Taming of the Shrew. Setting the tone for the traditional production is the Shakespearean Society's reproduction of the Globe Theatre - now in its fourth incarnation. Ironically, the fist show performed on Homer's original Globe set in 1969 was The Taming of the Shrew. Honoring the club's roots was the goal for director, Louise M. Felker-Holl, herself a Shakespearean Society alumna. "We wanted to showcase traditional costumes, sets, and props to illustrate that even though many things in the world have changed over the last fifty years, the core values of the club have not changed - quality performances, a sense of fellowship, and ultimately a celebration of Shakespeare's words."
